The first unit of work for your GCSE is the topic Portraits.

1. Create a visual page of different types of portraits. This can include examples of famous paintings, drawings, photographs. Fill an A3 sheet of paper.
2. Make TWO detailed drawings of portraits. Use pencil to create these and show a good range of tonal value for the highest grades. Fill An A4 page for both drawings. For higher marks draw form your own photographs.
3. Make a good drawing of a mouth and nose. Show tonal shading and make your drawing a good size to show all detail. Look carefully at the shape and foam.

4 Make a detailed drawing of a portrait using pen. Use a technique like cross hatching for successful work. Remember the closer the lines are together the darker the tone. Fill an A4 page with your drawing.
5. Find a good photo of a portrait, for high marks take your own photo! of yourself, family member or friend! Cut this image in half length ways. Stick one half down and draw the other half yourself.

Collage
Continue and complete the collage you created in class.Use magazines/newspaper. Include a background for your work.
Take a photo of yourself and enlarge to A4. Draw half your face as you are and the other half as an animal that you think presents you in some way
